“Minimalist Maximalist” by Various Artists

In the arts, maximalism, a reaction against minimalism, is an aesthetic of excess. The philosophy can be summarized as “more is more”, contrasting with the minimalist motto “less is more”. Imaginatively placing ourselves in the middle, our goal is to reconcile both as two sides of a singular experience as opposed to being the antithesis of the other. This exhibition is a celebration of life and its ebbs and flows. It tells the story of all the different facets and vignettes of the human experience. From its highs to its lows, the grandiose to the mundane, the chaotic to the calm. And every other experience in between, be it the straightforward or the abstract.

Stories told through art is not a linear narrative, life as we know it is not either. There are sporadic bursts of excitement where life seems full and vibrant and busy as seen in the works of Herbert Pajarito, BidiBidi, and Jemina Reyes. There are moments where life appears frozen in idyllic scenes and tableaus of precious memories as seen in the works of Jovan Benito, Migs Villanueva, and Francis Nacion, Michael Cacnio and Juvenal Sanso. There are also flights of fancy and hopeful or playful daydreams as seen in the works of Jef Albea, Melissa Yeung-Yap, and Anthony Palo. There are also moments of quiet solitude and introspection as seen in the works of Carlo Magno and Jonathan Dangue.
